Since our phones seem to always be the one thing we have with us on a hike I thought I’d reach out to Amy, who I took a similar class with last summer. My class was indoors but I thought having it while hiking would be fun. We’ll learn some techniques to utilize our phones more effectively for photos, take in a new park (for me anyway), and hopefully get some great sunset pictures to work our new skills on.

May is most notable for being the turning point in the year where temperatures rise and a vast variety of flowers come into full bloom, letting the world break out into a riot of color. As such, May’s full moon has come to be known as the Full Flower Moon. The Anishnaabe tribe also called it the Blossom Moon. In Northern America, you can expect to see flowers such as bluebells, sundrops, violets, and so on, as well as lush greenery to go with the blossoms. The Apache and Lakota peoples named May’s full moon the Green Leaves Moon, while the Mohawk tribe called it the Big Leaf Moon. But there is one specific plant that’s very important during the May season - and it is, in fact, not a flower. Read more about May’s Full Moon at https://www.moongiant.com/fullmoon/may/
Please join us in celebrating this Full Flower Moon with a paddle on Boerne Lake. Boerne Lake is the perfect place for a chill paddle due to the fact that they don’t allow gas powered boats on the lake.
We’ll launch at about 6:30, watch the sun set, watch the moon rise, and paddle in its glow until about 9:30. This is when we’ll all need to head back to shore to return and pack up equipment. The park closes at 10PM.
Hill Country Paddle Sports has graciously agreed to make special arrangements to stay open for our private event. They only have about 10 kayaks (first of you to RSVP for them get them, the rest will have access to SUP (Stand Up Paddle boards) OR you can BYOB (Bring Your Own Board/Boat)! Please be sure to RSVP your TOTAL group number (friends and family are welcome).
Bring all the glow sticks! We had a great time with them last summer! Just be sure to pack up all that you bring with you, leave no trace must be practiced.
HEADLAMPS: Please ensure everyone in your party has a headlamp! This is a necessary safety measure.
$40.00/per boat/board rental (a $20 savings!)

This month we’ve got something for everyone. We’ll be meeting at The Pearl. We’ll relax in the garden outside The Bottling Dept. (inside The Bottling Depot if it’s bad weather).
This adventure is perfect for getting to know your fellow or future adventure buddies. It’s gives us a chance to slow down and talk about adventures we want to try. It’s all about connecting before adventuring.
Social adventures can have an element of fear for some so know that you are in safe hands. We always have an environment of show up and be welcomed. Look for Bobbie with a WOA hoodie or t-shirt on.
See you soon!
