Full Moon Paddle

May is most notable for being the turning point in the year where temperatures rise and a vast variety of flowers come into full bloom, letting the world break out into a riot of color. As such, May’s full moon has come to be known as the Full Flower Moon. The Anishnaabe tribe also called it the Blossom Moon. In Northern America, you can expect to see flowers such as bluebells, sundrops, violets, and so on, as well as lush greenery to go with the blossoms. The Apache and Lakota peoples named May’s full moon the Green Leaves Moon, while the Mohawk tribe called it the Big Leaf Moon. But there is one specific plant that’s very important during the May season - and it is, in fact, not a flower. Read more about May’s Full Moon at

Please join us in celebrating this Full Flower Moon with a paddle on Boerne Lake. Boerne Lake is the perfect place for a chill paddle due to the fact that they don’t allow gas powered boats on the lake.

We’ll launch at about 6:30, watch the sun set, watch the moon rise, and paddle in its glow until about 9:30. This is when we’ll all need to head back to shore to return and pack up equipment. The park closes at 10PM.

Hill Country Paddle Sports has graciously agreed to make special arrangements to stay open for our private event. They only have about 10 kayaks (first of you to RSVP for them get them, the rest will have access to SUP (Stand Up Paddle boards) OR you can BYOB (Bring Your Own Board/Boat)! Please be sure to RSVP your TOTAL group number (friends and family are welcome).

Bring all the glow sticks! We had a great time with them last summer! Just be sure to pack up all that you bring with you, leave no trace must be practiced.

HEADLAMPS: Please ensure everyone in your party has a headlamp! This is a necessary safety measure.
