The Busy Woman's Skincare Routine

The Busy Woman’s Skincare Routine
By Lisa G

Life is crazy busy and it seems that one thing we seem to forget to take care of is ourselves.  What we need to do it not change everything up to fit a 30 minute skin care routine, but to stop and throw together a 10 minute one. Get these essentials to set the foundation for a great skin care routine. Your face will thank you.

      • Buy a good cleanser, and use it AM & PM!  Creamy cleansers are best for dry or dehydrated skin.  Gel based cleansers are more foamy and gentle for oily or congested skin.  Oil-based cleansers (sometimes called ‘pre-cleanse’) are great for doing an initial cleanse of the skin to remove dirt, oil, makeup, before using a different (creamy/gel/etc) water-based cleanser for refreshing, moisturizing or calming the skin.
        Try these:
Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser - Normal / Dry 5 oz
        CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, 12 Ounce
      • Invest in a good quality moisturizer that contains SPF of at least 30.  This would be applied before any foundation or BB cream that you use that has low levels of SPF as well.  Everyone needs sun protection, even those that work indoors, and most especially in Arizona!  Sun exposure is the number one aging factor for skin, causing wrinkles, sagging skin (from loss of collagen and elastin), hyperpigmentation (age spots), and potential skin cancer.
        Try these:
Boots No 7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream - Dry / Very Dry 1.6 oz
CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Lotion AM, SPF 30, 3 Ounce
      • To see changes in skin tone and texture, it is essential to exfoliate.  Enzyme-based exfoliants (think pumpkin or blueberry, for example) will remove dead skin cells without the grit of a manual exfoliant. Take care with manual “scrubs” to make sure the ingredients are not going to be abrasive to your face and cause damage.  Scrubs containing rice are a great option, as they will brighten the skin as well as exfoliate. Removing dead skin cells helps your facial products penetrate more effectively, your pores to appear smaller, and your makeup to lie smoother.  Exfoliation should not be done every day, but 3-4 times a week should be sufficient to see improvements.
