10 Ways to Challenge Yourself Daily

I don't know about you but I don't have a problem challenging myself every now and then. I'll hop on a mountain bike for the first time and give an intermediate trail a go. I'll go on a weekend camping trip by myself. I'll even make a snap decision to buy an SUP board or book a trip to Ireland.

But I struggle to challenge myself on a daily basis. It's so easy to go home at the end of each day and waste the evening doing nothing (as much as I love binge watching Game of Thrones). So. I thought I'd Google how to challenge myself daily, and then I remembered—I have an entire Facebook group of inspiring women I can turn to for stuff like this. I asked you Women on Adventure for ways you challenge yourself daily and, as always, you didn't let me down.

How do you enjoy your "me" time?

  1. Be kind to everyone—no matter their attitude.
    This is one of the hardest things for me to do. I don't think I'm alone when I say I treat others how they treat me. Next time someone treats you unfairly, give them the benefit of the doubt
  2. Give someone a compliment.
    You love getting compliments—return the favor. You'll probably make someone's day.
  3. Don't hit the snooze button.
    I'm not exaggerating when I say I do this every morning. Sometimes twice. Hitting the snooze does nothing but make you rushed, late, and stressed. Get up with your first alarm tomorrow and see if it makes a difference in your day.
  4. Exercise for at least 30 minutes.
    Take a walk. Do yoga. Do something that stretches your muscles and gets your blood pumping. You won't regret it.
  5. Don't criticize yourself.
    Have you ever responded well to negativity? When those negative thoughts pop into your head, try giving yourself a compliment. Say something you love about yourself.
  6. Get some vitamin D.
    A little sunshine never hurt anyone.
  7. Schedule in your "me" time.
    Don't forget about yourself. Take 30 minutes out of your day to destress and bring yourself back to center. You can't take care of others if you don't take care of yourself.
  8. Do something that makes you uncomfortable.
    Talk to a stranger. Go out to dinner by yourself. Take an art class. Get out of your comfort zone.
  9. Don't sweat the small stuff.
    It can be hard to not stress over work or how much we have to do in so little time. Try to not let it get to you. Take a deep breath. Make a list. Get your thoughts organized and you'll have an easier time tackling your to-do list.
  10. Live in the moment.
    When was the last time you were grateful to be where you are? Every challenge you faced and every decision you made brought you to where you are today. Take time to appreciate that.
