August Hike and Brunch in Payson

Horton Creek Trail in Payson

This promises to be a really beautiful hike as we meander near a stream the whole way. But don't be fooled that it is easy! It's 8.5 miles with over 2000 feet of elevation. Butt kicker is what it looks like but we'll climb up to the rim road and have sweeping views of the Mogollon Rim.

Directions from Payson: Travel east on Hwy. 260 to Forest Road 289. The trail starts in the Upper Tonto Creek Campground.

Distance: 8.5 Miles
Elevation: 2431 Feet
Level 💪💪💪 (just to be safe)

We will meet at the Target in Fountain Hills then we will carpool out from there. Please comment below if you are willing to drive or ride so I can make sure we have enough drivers.

The details on AllTrails says it's moderate with tons of elevation, but it appears to depend on how far you hike out. Many of the comments say easy. So I'm putting as level 💪💪💪 just to be safe.

Brunch will be at Pinon Pine Cafe
